In their research and teachings, the work group "Digital Media in Education" ("Digitale Medien in der Bildung" - DiMeB) refers both to education as a field of application for Computing Science and Digital Media, as well as to Media Education based on Computing Science in a context of Educational Science and Didactics. The institutional integration of the work group in Computing Science and Digital Media and the responsibility for providing basic training in the area of information society technologies for people studying to be teachers offers the chance to develop a specific profile of "Digital Media in Education" and to establish ties between a Technology Culture and Educational Science in order to open up an interesting interdisciplinary orientation both for Computing Science / Digital Media and Educational Science. The "Centre for Interaction with Digital Media" ("Zentrum für Interaktion mit Digitalen Medien" - ZIM) is the central space where the DiMeB staff, students and also DiMeB's cooperation partners encounter an environment that offers insights into technological development processes, and where they find the prerequisites to develop and enhance their competence regarding Digital Media and to research into educational processes.
