Interesting project – this is an example of another use of smart textiles in sports apart of what we were thinking about (body and movement).

Textile LED display

LED display

Used very nice and is controlled by Lilli Pad. The solution of the “short circuit problem” that we were often facing while trying to create something similar is quite simple according to the linked webpage:

The textile itself serves as an insulator between the two layers of conductive yarns. This allows the creation of a grid or matrix without making electrical contact on the crossing points.

LED Gloves on market

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

I found this while surfing the web today:

GANTS LUMINEUX

or in english here

These LED gloves are very similar to ones created during the first workshop here – additionaly ours automatically adjusted the brightness of the LEDs accordingly to the environment :D

It is very nice to see such thing, I have a good felling about that…

Glowing purse

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

Frequent idea on the workshops was a bag, that would lit up inside to make searching small things easier. Here is a design idea of such purse…

(According to the article avereage woman spends 14 hours per year by searching for small things in her purse…this would then really be usefull).

Interesting software

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

I have found and interesting piece of freeware, that might be helpful when designing electrical circuits…

Can be downloaded with some examples here:

I spent only a few moments playing around with it, but it seems to be easy to manipulate. I also think it can calculate what kind of resistor you’ll need if using a certain number of LED or other components…
